How it works

Prop firm drawdown calculator

1

Pick the drawdown type

Static (fixed threshold) or trailing (the threshold rises with your gains).

2

Enter your numbers

Account size, drawdown percentage, and the profit already made.

3

Read your blow-up threshold

The minimum balance you must not cross, and the margin you have left. For a trailing drawdown, the threshold follows your peak.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Static vs trailing drawdown, what's the difference?

A static drawdown (often end-of-day, EOD) has a fixed threshold: a max dollar loss from the starting balance. A trailing drawdown rises with your gains: the threshold follows your peak, so you can lose recent gains even while above the start.

How do you calculate your maximum loss?

Max allowed loss = account size × drawdown percentage. For example 10% on a $100,000 account = $10,000 max loss. The blow-up threshold is the balance below which the account is lost.

Does the trailing drawdown ever stop?

At many firms the trailing drawdown "locks" once you reach a certain gain (often at the starting deposit level), then becomes fixed. This varies: check it firm by firm.

Is this exact for my firm?

It's a generic model. The exact method (on balance or equity, intraday or end-of-day, trailing lock) changes by firm. Always check your prop firm's review.
